"The Avalon Police Department has been active in the enforcement of the fireworks law for years. We actively try to locate and issue summons' to individuals who set off illegal fireworks. We do this to prevent injury to individuals as well as preventing damage to property, whether public or private. We may also issue a noise complaint to the individual depending on the time and circumstances of the use".

The Borough of Avalon, New Jersey, is an oceanfront community located on the Atlantic coast about twenty-five miles south of Atlantic City. We share what is commonly referred to as the "Seven Mile Island" with another community called the Borough of Stone Harbor. Our community has a year round population of approximately 2,000 that increases in the summer to around 35,000. Our full time police force is comprised of twenty (21) full time officers and five (5) dispatchers. Because of the influx of vacationers and part time residents, our department is supplemented by approximately twenty (20) special law enforcement officers during the summer months.
